Both sides of week 28

Another week is ready to share. My Mom gave me a big box of my baby clothes. She made most of my clothes and they are mini works of art. One of my favorites is the big pink dress that even had a hoop skirt that goes underneath!! and the teal blue wool coat with matching hat!!! So pretty.

Another big event was the wedding of Joe & Sarah. Lots of family and friends gathered to celebrate this wonderful life event.

Project Life Week 27

LIVELOVE(D) The theme of the 2013 National LCMS (Lutheran Church) Youth Gathering. We gathered with 32,000+ youth and adults from around the world in San Antonio, Texas during the first week of July. We started early and ended lasted late each day.

 One of the highlights for me was meeting the Lutheran Comfort Dogs. I "met" Adeena. These beautiful dogs have provided comfort at Sandy Hook Elementary and the Boston Marathon and even West, Tx after the fertilizer plant explosion. You can read more about them here.


Backpack anyone?? Everyone received a blue backpack. That's a lot of blue walking the streets of San  Antonio.

Elvis was in THE HOUSE! Wherever we went Elvis was the leader. A huge cut-out on a long pole with blinking red lights is a life saver in keeping your group together. You don't want to walk to the wrong hotel. 

We celebrated the 4th of July by watching the fireworks at The Alamodome with a few of our closest friends (wink).


Everyone had a blast! We are already looking forward to New Orleans in 3 years! ~Rhonda

Project Life - Week 26

This week I was able to mark something off my bucket list. I have always wanted to do a BIG food fight! 


The opportunity came through our Youth Group. All the adult leaders had birthdays in June so we were able to set it up so they were singing Happy Birthday and then we let the cake and craziness FLY!

Everyone needs to experience this once! I came home with an earful of green cake icing!! What a great night! ~Rhonda

We had a great weekend with family in far south Texas. We enjoyed lots of military pageantry as my cousin by marriage become the new base commander of the Naval Air Training Command in Kingsville.

I had a blast catching up with my cousins, Shannon and Elisha. They have sweet families.

On Saturday night we did a little shooting. It had been many years since I had done that.

Project Life - Week 24

Thank Goodness I got Week 24 completed! I am still working on Week 23. I am stuck big time on it. (remember the hint to take lots of pictures? yeh, I should have listened better)

Summer continues with a church softball game. Lots of silliness and creative batting. We did end up with a major injury as one of the high school girls ended up with a ball to the nose.

The weekend involved traveling to Houston for a wedding. We managed to fit in dinner with Bob's sister and to celebrate my birthday as well.

Project Life - Week 22

I had a lot of pictures this week. It sure makes it easier when that is the case.


The shack that we painted is located in the little town of Aledo. The community paints birthday wishes, community events, and whatever catches their fancy. It is a great tradition. I had always wanted to do this so now I can mark this off the list.
 

 The going away party for Noa was bittersweet. I know she is ready to see her family but we are going to miss her a lot.


I just noticed that I left off the white frames that I have been using. Gonna have to go back and fix that. ~Rhonda

Project Life - Week 21

This was a busy week. We were getting lots of spring storms with Moore, Oklahoma getting hammered. 

The highlight was meeting Ann Voskamp, the author of 1000 Gifts. I love reading her blog and her book is good as well.

Shopping! That's what the last half of the week was about. Flower shopping and then JUNK shopping. We had a blast.

Project Life - Week 20

 Both sides of week 20

 This week we celebrated Ryker's19th birthday. You can't keep picturing yourself at 29 or even 39 when your baby is 19. At what age would you like to freeze time?

 The Aledo High School Prom was this week as well. Several of the girls in the Youth Group invited me to be a part of the pre-festivities. They were having so much fun and looked gorgeous. I LOVE these kids! One more milestone. The guys are all graduating and headed to college.

Project Life - Week 19

The highlight of this week is celebrating Mother's Day. My parents came for the weekend and my boys were home. It doesn't get much better than that.

 But my favorite picture is the one of the guys lined up at the dining room table. My youngest son, Ryker, is in the middle flanked by longtime friends. I have another picture similar to this one that I need to find when they were much younger. The time has gone so fast.

We enjoyed a beautiful day in Glenrose at Fossil Rim taking pictures of the animals and a few wildflowers on the way home.

I'm learning how to re-do furniture from a pro. We are having a blast sanding and painting. Projects like this are always so much more fun with a friend.

We celebrated Bob's 54th birthday this week. Ryker returned from his 1st semester at Concordia University. I survived my baby being away.

Project Life Week 16 - 17

I have another combo page.The highlight of Week Sixteen was the Church Dessert Show. The High School kids perform skits and then serve desserts in the middle as a fundraiser. This was the 20th Annual Show. The theme for this year was reality shows. Dancing with the Disciples and the Housewives of Canaan are some examples of very funny skits.


During Week Seventeen  I spend time with my parents. My Dad loves to take pictures and has a HUGE amount of camera knowledge stored in his head. I wanted a few pointers so we spent a few days taking pictures together. Treasured Time. It was fun to see the different perspectives. 


One of my favorite shots is the train through the fence. It might be a little busy for some but it is kind of interesting. ~Rhonda

Project Life - Week Fifteen

Project Life is so much easier when I have remembered to take lots of pictures. This was another busy week.

My dear friend Karla was recognized for her volunteer hours at the Cook's Children's Hospital. What a great organization to support.

I had a great day of garage sale bargains. I am looking for things to decorate the High School Youth House. I found pillows, blanket throw, glass knobs, and a chair to play with. Bob's new car also arrived. He is thrilled. It is Black Ford Fusion Hybrid.

Project Life - Week 14

I'm moving right along into April with this project. Do you remember the advice - have the end project in mind so you know what you are aiming for?

 I don't just want to print my pages and put them into a page protector. I want a BOOK! I started exploring what company I would use. Eye opening experience!! It looks like I will have to go with a 12x12 book and use a template that has a 1" border so I can just upload my pages as is. To use my current template I would loose A LOT with binding. Does anyone have any other solutions? I may also have a take out a loan. These things are EXPENSIVE!

I decided to add photos of my current favorite television shows. I just went to their Fb pages and pulled images. I think it worked well.

We were honored to have a special guest visit our youth group. A PROFESSIONAL football player, Jason Fox. Super nice guy! Thankful he visited with us.

Project Life Week Twelve and Thirteen

Well my dilemma with this spread is NOT having enough pictures to do 2 pages for week 12 and enough pictures to do a 2 page for week 13. I decided to just do a page for each to stay consistent.

Week 12 was busy but I didn't get enough pictures taken. I loved the tulips that I stopped from my car. What would I do without my iPhone?

Reed's Criminal Justice Banquet was on Good Friday. We spend part of the day decorating. We hit the road early on Saturday for Oklahoma to spend Easter with my parents. We decorated eggs even though the boys weren't too thrilled but hey! if you want the Easter Bunny to bring something for your basket you play along.

Project Life - Week Ten and Eleven

 Both sides of week 10 and 11

I wasn't sure if I would make my self-imposed deadline of posting a Project Life layout every Wednesday this week. I struggled with these pages. I didn't take enough pictures of everyday life. Thank goodness for the High School Camping Trip.

I need to figure out some way to put the pictures I want to use each week in a folder so I can find them. Anyone have a tip they can share?

I think I am going to have to create a checklist so I can remember items that I would like to do consistently as I notice that I didn't put white frames around the larger photos. Sigh....

Project Life - Week Nine

Week Nine!!It's all about orange this week. The OSU Cowboys were in town for some basketball. Bob and I had a great time at the game. It has been awhile since I attended some college sporting events.

The freezer is fixed. There wasn't a big problem except me not calling to schedule a repairman. I don't like to make those calls. I'm weird I know. We also picked up our family pictures that we took in January. Nice to have that complete.


 Staying busy here. Hope you are enjoying life. ~Rhonda
