Mojo Monday #369 Give thanks

Mojo Monday #369 is a great sketch. It is also the last Monday of the month and that means tall & skinny week.

I actually had these leaves setting on my desk just waiting for the perfect time to use them. The distress inks are so much fun to use on vellum. I also love the platinum embossing powder.  ~Rhonda

HB to YOU

I'm playing along with the Big Birthday Bash that is happening at the 10 Minute Craft Dash. Paulina (Pretty Pink Posh) is celebrating ONE year!

Coordinating papers from paper packs sure make it easier to get a card completed in 10 minutes or less. My time was a little over 8 minutes. The first card uses paper from The Little Yellow Tricycle Poppy pack and Basic Grey Wander pad.

I had so much fun making one card that I made another using paper from My Mind's Eye Mabel paper pad using the same Mojo Monday #305 sketch.

I hope you are planning a great weekend! It's tax free weekend in Texas so I think I will stay away from the stores and the hoards of back to school shoppers! ~Rhonda

Flip Flops

Life IS better in flip flops! My favorite footwear! What about you? The inspiration for this card comes from the Mojo Monday #298 sketch which I did not get posted to in time. Oh well, I still love this sketch!

We were in Katy, Tx two weekends ago for a wedding and guess what store was about 3 miles from the hotel???? Archivers! It was also my birthday so I did a little shopping for paper. One of the new paper pads I purchased was from Little Yellow Bicycle - Poppy.

The largest layer of the Bloom Builders #3 die made the perfect sun. I thought that stamping the sentiment in Pure Poppy was a nice change.

Are you getting ready for the weekend! ~Rhonda

Let Go and Let God

It's contest time at the Mojo Monday blog this week! Can you believe it is already June? I saw a little banner on Fb the other day saying 202 days til Christmas! uggh

I used a new Verve set Let it Be for this card. I started playing around with the flower and paper scraps that were on my desk. I like it when ALL my scraps come together. ~Rhonda

Happy Memorial Day!

I am so thankful to the Men and Women who serve in our military. I can go to any church that I want, get in my car and drive wherever, and say what I wanna ALL because someone in our military made the ultimate sacrifice for my freedom. They are HEROES! I pray that I use that freedom wisely.

My cards are 3x3 and 4x4. It was fun to mix it up a bit with the smaller sizes.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. We have been super busy trimming trees and working like crazy people in the yard. My are trying to get as much done as we can before it is really hot. We have had cloud cover ALL weekend that we are extremely thankful for. ~Rhonda

friends 'til the end

I'm playing along with the Mojo Monday #283 sketch designed by Carol Burrage. I added a couple of elements. My card just needed the flags to be complete. Chervons are also being highlighted at Moxie Fab World. Just happen to have some of these on this card.

My first thought for the background of this card was PTI's Sweet Blush but it seemed flat so I added the herringbone impression plate but it still wasn't right. I started laying the elements on different pattern papers. This happy yellow was the winner. Need to remember to do this more often.

I had a lot of the card elements left over and started to put them away but decided to create a little ATC instead. I think it would be fun to put in a small glassine bag. Perfect for a plate of cookies to a friend.

Since I was determined to use all the extra pieces I put my last extra loopy flower die on the inside of the card.

Time to get off the computer! Bad weather is headed our way. ~Rhonda

Papertrey Blop Hop

The challenge is to show off any skills you might have learned from a fellow stamper, and perhaps even give them a little shout out to thank them for the inspiration they have provided.  Create a project using one of your favorite learned skills and perhaps after a little blog hopping, we will ALL learn some new tips and tricks and continue to pass on the love of this hobby!

The best thing I've learned is to rely on sketches to get the creativity going. Often times it gets changed so much it no longer matches but the jumping off point is important. I like Mish's recent idea of hanging up some of your favorites cards and CASing yourself! Though I'd rather CASe Mish!!!

I'm using a sketch from Mojo Monday for this card.

I am loving the new Framed stamp set. I keep finding more sentiments that fit. I ultimately used the sentiment from Fillable Frames #7 but sentiments from 2009 Autumn Tags work as well.

Happy Hopping Everyone! ~ Rhonda

How Ewe Doin?

How Ewe Doin Everyone? I'm playing along with Mojo Monday #125 this week. I had this adorable Whimsie Doodles digital that I have been wanting to play with. Digital stamps really work well for challenges. I was able to change the size of the sentiment and Ewe to fit the template constraints very easily.

I started with a PTI Whisper White base and then Ripe Avacado stamped with PTI's Turning a New Leaf. The purple floral is from an unknown paper pack.

Isn't this Ewe cute? A little Polar White Flower Soft was perfect for wool. Can you see the Impressabilities - Flowers that I used on the PTI True Black cardstock?

PTI Ripe Avacado ribbon is so easy to work with. Ties like a dream!

One last thought - I found this quote today and it made me think of the online forums and the people we have connected to through them.

"We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results." ~ Herman Melville

Have a most wonderful day! ~Rhonda

You're so Sweet!

February is National Cherry Month!! Who knew? This is the perfect reason to acquire a cherry stamp. PTI's Everyday Button Bits has the perfect stamp for this project.

Lori issued the 1st challenge of the Papertrey Peep's - use BUTTONS! That is a welcome request when you have Papertrey stamp sets. Mojo Monday #124 provided the perfect layout and The Pile It On Challenge - No More Winter Colors helped with color. I started with the colors in the Cosmo Cricket Early Bird Cherry Pie/Over Easy designer paper. Add some PTI Ocean Tides, Lemon Tart, and Pure Poppy for a very cheery cherry card.

Spellbinder Nestabilities are such hard working tools in my card making arsenal. I used the long rectangles, classic circles, and scallop circles.

I finished the inside by stamping the cherry stems once more and then punching 1/2 circles to complete the sweet treat.

All this cherry talk makes my long for my Mom's fabulous Cherry Pie! Doesn't that sound wonderful?

Happily Ever After Challenge #2 & Mojo Monday

How about a Valentine challenge that says NO valentine colors but instead football team colors? Would you do it?? Check out Ted's challenge HERE.

All I can say is GO COWBOYS!!!! Team colors are blue and silver. I used the Mojo Monday sketch #21 as my layout inspiration.

PTI's background: text II embossed with silver on SU Going Gray was the kick off point. PTI Enchanted Evening CS and ink for the heart image which is retired SU. The vellum paper is great, silver hearts from Hobby Lobby. The touch down is a lil white crochet yarn around the top of the heart.

Go Cowboys! ~ Rhonda

"Plane Fun"

Like so many, I really like the Mojo Monday sketch this week. The DP is from My Mind's Eye. The plane is matted on SU Rich Razzleberry. The ribbon is PTI Spring Moss.

The plane is a mini Valentine digital stamp from Whimsie Doodle that is so cute! I absolutely love them. As I watched the Dallas Cowboy game last night I colored Valentine's with my Copic Markers.

The picture below shows what is in the set.

This was a fun card! Keep playing! ~ Rhonda

Soar! - Mojo Monday

Here is my entry for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. There are alot of talented people playing this week for a chance to win a Verve stamp set.

I used PTI's Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet, and Enchanted Evening cardstock paired with a floral from My Mind's Eye. My Copic Marker B99 worked great to color my prisma flower and brads for a coordinated look. The picture doesn't do justice to the Berry Sorbet! This is a gorgous color. I have had the verse stamp forever and don't know where it is from. I purchased it before the day of blogs!

Thanks for looking. Keep playing! --Rhonda

Snowflake Wonder

I had a little time to kill as I was waiting on my son's Algebra II class to end, so shopping at Hobby Lobby seemed the thing to do. I found the cute red snowflake paper from The Paper Studio on clearance as well as some other Christmas papers. I also picked up the Spellbinders Snowflake Wonder dies at 40% off. Mojo Monday Week #108 had the perfect sketch for trying my new goodies.

The snowman is from the retired SU Tags and More set stamped on a rectangle nestie. I colored the scarf and hat with my Copic markers. Outlining the snowman with C-1 Cool Gray helps him stand out. The sentiment is from PTI On My Couch set.

I used one of the five snowflake dies for my embellishment. Clear embossing powder as well as a PTI Enchanted Evening button finished the flake nicely.

I used the SU texture plate background 1 to put large dots on my PTI Enchanted Evening cardstock layer.

I see lots of snowflakes in my future! I can't wait to make gift tags!

Thanks for looking!

Keep playing! --Rhonda

Three in One

Happy Monday Everyone!
While visiting Mona's blog I learned about the Pile It On! Challenge. What great fun and super information on all the challenges that are available. I am combining 3 challenges in one card. I actually found it easier to do several challenges in one versus individual cards! #1:  I used Mojo Monday sketch #107 #2: SPCC #18 Color Combos and #3 Pile In On Challenge Three Dimensionals. The process took awhile but I'm happy with the results! Thanks for looking.

One of the details I really like is that the paper with Happy Fall has diamonds that match the texture plate I used for the background.

Supplies Used:
Paper: SU Dusty Durango, Not Quite Navy, Soft Suede, My Mind's Eye - Dots, paper pack - blue diamond
Ink: SU Not Quite Navy and Soft Suede
Stamps: SU Fantastic Foliage (ret), PTI 2009 Autumn Tags for sentiment
Extras: SU texture plate background 1, brads from stash, twine from PTI, ribbon from Michaels, pop dots
