Snips and Snails . . .

This is the final Viva la Verve Sketch for July. It is a sketch and a color inspiration. What little boy doesn't like cars? I love this paper from My Mind's Eye.

As the little hot rod cars have stars on the dash I decided to use the star spangled impression plate to carry through with the theme on the background paper. A subtle effect. You can see it in the picture below.

Can you believe it is the LAST day of July? ~Rhonda

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

With all the goings on about the Royal Baby I felt the need to do a baby card though I choose to do pink. The Viva la Verve July Sketch Wk #4 was the perfect starting point.

Verve's Classy Label die was perfect for layering over the stork and it's sweet delivery.

I used a sentiment from Boutique Borders: Baby for the inside of the card. I have started using more sentiments for the insides these days versus a blank card.

Have a sweet week! ~Rhonda

I'm playing with my Copic Markers again. I will never get better at my coloring without practicing. Can you hear your Mother in your head saying that? :) never did get better at piano. Just did not like it.

Have a great day friends! ~Rhonda

To the Moon !!

When I saw the new Verve set - To the Moon- I knew I had to have it. I met my husband at the White Elephant Saloon in the Fort Worth Stockyards 25 years ago. We met on a Wednesday evening, had our 1st date on Friday and the rest was history.

I had the image in my head of the elephant being "the Man in the Moon." The stars and cloud are dies from PTI.

Since I already had scraps of the same paper and an extra elephant stamped, I decided to make a tag as well. It will be perfect for a baby gift. I love "Emery" hanging out the window.

Hope you have a fabulous day!!! ~Rhonda

Twinkle, Twinkle

I'm playing along with Verve's Diva Dare . . .

We dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Baby Love! The baby part could be for a new little someone...or a special someone!

You can get all the details at the Verve blog.

I chose the sweetest sentiment EVER!!! - Twinkle, twinkle little star, do you know how LOVED you are?

I issued myself a challenge to use a complete Cosmo Cricket mini deck. TOGETHERNESS - hoping all this togetherness doesn't wear me OUT!

You can see another card I made using this paper here. ~Rhonda

Lady Bug

A friend had a new baby girl and the room is decorated with LADY BUGS!! PTI had the perfect set for creating this framed birth announcement. What do you think???

The sunshine impression plate added the right amount of texture to the background. A few RED rhinestones as the dotted i's added a little fun. The largest lady bug is popped up.

I had to make a matching gift bag/tag as well. I really like the black gingham ribbon.

I want to thank Steph from the PTI forum for letting me borrow this stamp set!! Hope you have a fabulous weekend! ~Rhonda

Look for Just Arrived!

Aidan!!!! His parents had me design a birth announcement to celebrate his arrival. I love the design they selected. You may remember the baby shower card I made here that was the inspiration for the announcements.

PTI's Fly Away is the perfect set for little boy cards.

The flight theme continued on the inside with room for a wallet photo to be inserted. The wording was . . .

We're flying high . . .

Just soaring through the clouds
We have a NEW SON
and couldn't be more proud!

then the baby details

Thanks goodness for dies. The cloud dies from PTI and the open scallop from MFT added the perfect touch.

200 clouds and 100 scallops later and the big shot just keeps working!

As a thank you to Mom and Dad for letting me help, I made this cute framed piece for Aiden's room. The airplane color changed to match his room.

I'm so loving the mat stack #3 die! It is the perfect scale for so many images and the shape is wonderful. The sailboat from Bitty Baby worked really well for this easy baby card.

I love paper piecing the sail. The Enchanted Evening Baker's twine paired with a burst of Orange Zest provide a strong finish!

Oh Baby!

I just had to share this picture of my new nephew that arrived last Thursday, July 29th. Milaan weighed 6 lbs 6 ozs. They say he is a little angel--he certainly looks like one. I fly to CA later in the month to help take care of him and his twin brothers who are 13 months old.

I made this fun tag for his gift! I had made quilts for his brothers and had made an extra to have on hand in a different pattern never dreaming that I would need it so soon.

Bitty Blessing

My jumping off point for this card was Mercy's challenge here. I had avoided the carriage image because I knew it needed to be colored. It now provided the perfect opportunity to practice blending copic markers. I used R85, R83,  and R81.

The pearls on the wheels, carriage top, and handle are made by using the Viva Ice White Pearl Pen. I really enjoy using it.

I'm watching the NCAA Basketball tourney as I craft. Usually during this time I work on quilts but this year I'm sticking with cards.

Enjoy the day! ~Rhonda

Bitty Baby

This is my 2nd post of the day. Scroll down to see my card for Becky's Compose a Card Challenge #2.

PTI introduced their Make It Monday challenge series. Every Monday there will be a technique video posted by a Papertrey Team Member or Nicole, showcasing a nice balance of basics and new innovations to cater to everyone's skill levels.
Today's technique is Emboss Resist. I had never tried this so I learned something new. I CASE'd Nicole's card as well. My brain is tired after all the many wonderful challenges this week.

I used a sentiment from Bitty Baby as the background in Spring Moss for my emboss resist part of the project. I clear embossed the baby carriage, then rubbed Spring Rain ink with a paper towel as Nicole suggested over it. I matted this layer onto Spring Rain cardstock.

I used background basics: diamonds with versamark ink on Spring Moss cardstock for the bottom layer. I finished the card with Ripe Avacado ribbon.

Things I learned for next time:
A solid image will work better than a line image
Light colors are so hard to photograph.

I am dying to know what the scalloped edge is all about!! Aren't you?

~Rhonda

Babies are Heaven Sent!

I love being able to combine challenges. This time it happened by chance. I loved Kazen's sketch #37 at 2 Sketches 4 You, so I thought I would play along then I found the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge #8 that wanted a baby card.
My focal point is made with the Classic Scallopped Circle Lg #2 and #3. The border was done with my Just Rite Preserves Set using the 2 3/8" wood stamper.  I used PTI Bitty Baby stamp set to paper piece the rabbit and added a cute stripe for his ear and tail.
The paper is PTI Kraft, Enchanted Evening, and Aqua Mist. The stripe is from an unknown paperpack.I think the Enchanted Evening ink color looks fabulous on the Aqua Mist.

Thanks for looking! Keep playing! --Rhonda
