Sending Hugs - background basics: medalllions

Practice makes perfect - and I NEED a lot more practice on backgrounds!! An additional benefit of using the MISTI is that I can use the very light ink colors and stamp then more than once to get great colors.

Do you need a hug today??? I hope you have someone close to give you one or accept this virtual one. I appreciate each of you that take the time to stop by. ~Rhonda

Forever Friends

Once you get the embossing paste out you might as well keep the mess going! I used the cloud dies to make a stencil. Such fun texture.

I used my Xyron machine with the true black cardstock so the "forever" would be easy to place. The black embossing really stands out against the distress inks. Have a great one!~Rhonda

MIM #201 - Cover Plate Stencils and embossing paste

Playing along with this week's PTI - Make it Monday #201! Getting messy with embossing paste. I decided to add a couple of drops of Tropical Teal ink to my paste for a bright background. I like the imperfections in color. I even like the charm of the bleeds under the stencil at the bottom. (you gotta like it or start over!)I used several of the small stamps in the set to add pops of red and teal to the circles.

What do you think about the cover plate stencil I made?? I found clear template plastic in the quilting section at Jo-Ann's that worked perfectly. I had to use the metal shim to get a good cut. I can know get it messy and it washes right off.
Enjoy the weekend!! ~Rhonda

Smile

I hope you have something to SMILE about!! I am still playing with my MISTI. Using lots of sentiments on a card front is so much easier. I was able to stamp the sentiments in winter wisteria at the same time, then the 3 sentiments in limeade ice.

I then "thought" I was through so used the Herringbone Impression Plate. I decided I had too much white space so I added the sentiment in Royal Velvet. I had to stamp it a couple of times to get a full image. I would have messed it up for sure without the tool.

I love that I'm adding several cards at a time to my stash. It takes me sooo long to design one.

All the bright purple is making me SMILE! Enjoy your day. ~Rhonda

How about a little variety, Garden Variety this is! I may be pushing spring just a little but the sentiment seemed appropriate for February.

I love Colorbox's silver ink. Great coverage and the little watering can is so cute! I used the tools to ground the image. I think it worked.

Here is the inside. I used a distress tool to lay down some sweet blush ink. ~Rhonda

Make it Monday #196 - Colorful Card Corners (Faux)

My cards today were inspired by Danielle Flander's recent PTI - MIM #196 Colorful Card Corners. I had already pulled this pattern paper out and was struggling to use it. Almost ALL paper pads have a couple of designs that fit this criteria. My colorful corners are faux but fabulous!!!

By cutting them out to have the big design in the corner you have the basis for a very quick and easy card. I embossed a large sentiment and WOW! I am done. Happy Girl here! ~Rhonda

Thinking of YOU

Not sure there is anything better than throwing ink around and making a mess turn into something pretty. I started by dry embossing the cover plate onto watercolor paper.

The next step was putting distress ink on my crafting mat and spray with lots of water. Dry and do again a couple of times to get the color where I wanted it. I stamped my sentiment in brown but decided it needed to be embossed to see it better. I offset the stamp just a touch with gives it a bit of a shadow.

Postcard Stationary - August PTI Blog Hop

I enjoy participating in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop each month. I love the inspiration photo and the idea of postcard style stationary for the challenge this month. I didn't stray to far from the inspiration piece.

I decided to use embossing powder to create the bold punch of border color. As you can see from my picture there is nothing precise in the method but it looks great. If you want to a see a video of this technique you can watch Jennifer McGuire here.

I hope you can see the shine that the embossing powder adds to the edge. It is so pretty.

Part of the challenge was to make sure we didn't forget the envelope as we made our design. I used the A2 Envelope Liner die to cut the pattern paper for the envelopes. I find this is a great way to use up super busy paper.

The packaging was the final element. A glassine bag tied with ribbon and a tag with stripes across the bottom to echo the cards.

Thanks for stopping by! ~Rhonda

I Scream, You Scream

What to do with all the busy paper in the Simon Says Stamp August Card kit???? Go simple with the sentiments.

Do you have a plan in working with the card kits? My goal is to use up ALL the consumables so I don't have a storage crisis or have to remember what is what. I am linking this card to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Summer. ~Rhonda

I had so much fun creating this card. The Popsicle made a wonderful background for the shaker card. I used the Make It Market: Shakers & Sprinkles dies to help speed up the process.

Hello My Friend

I had some arrows left over from this card and decided they would be perfect for accenting a tag. The space above the tag needed to be filled for balance. I went with twine that I "painted" so it would hold its shape.

I hope you have a great day. I headed out for a day with Phoebe Comfort Dog to visit some hospitals.

Sending Prayers & Love

I finally decided to sign up for the Simon Says Stamp card kits. Sending Happy Mail is my first. So many cute products. I have high hopes that I can use up most of the supplies before the next kit arrives. The August kit was revealed today!

My first card focuses on hearts. I wasn't sure if I would like the puffy stickers but was pleasantly surprised.

The next card is perfect for popping in the mail. I used glossy accents on the small heart. Just enough shine!

Thankful for Friends

I had a lot of fun creating this card. I using my mini inker tool to create the background using distress inks. The next step was putting the circle graph stencil in Versamark ink and embossing with black powder. I had no idea if it would work but it really created a cool effect.

I used my perfect pearls for the 1st time with the collage background. Oh my, I LOVE them! ~Rhonda

Smile + Happy + Stencils

I had some fun with a stencil and distress inks!  On the first card I used the mini distress tool to push the ink into the "petals". I then generously spritzed it with water. I used a heat tool to dry it which helps the ink look bold.

On this second card I put the ink on the plastic of the stencil and pressed into the paper. Not the best of impressions but still fun.

I tied several colors of twine around the half and half die to match the great ink colors.

Have a wonderful day!~Rhonda
