Swinging by to say HI!

We are watching the weather in Texas as the 1st hurricane of the season,  Alex, will make land Thursday. It is sure to bring flooding and tornadoes to South Texas. They are showing people surfing in the big waves! CRAZY I say!

I'm taking Jessica Spray's Computer Tricks for Cards class which is basically a hybrid class (combining digital elements with paper). One of the 1st cards we made is below. The papers and "stamped" image were digital that I printed. Used my border punch, twine, and button to complete.

It inspired me to use the same layout for the next card. The papers again were digital that I downloaded from someplace! I need to figure out how to label so I can give credit where credit is due!

I love this Pure Innocence image! Aptly named "Start each day with Whee!" I paper pieced her dress. It looks cool for summer.

Thanks so much for visiting! I love reading your comments. ~Rhonda

Supplies used:
Stamps: Pure Innocence (Start each day w/ Whee)
Paper: Jessica Spray digital paper & elements, PTI (dark choc, ripe avocado, vintage cream, stampers select white)
ink: Memento (rich cocoa)
other: Copic markers, Papertrey Ink (aqua mist button, lemon tart, orange zest button, twine) Janome Sew mini, Fiskers border punch, 2" scallop punch, pop dots, staples

Grow where YOU are planted!

I fell in love with this set the 1st time I saw it!! I have lots of gardening friends that will love getting a card with this image. The best thing is that I don't have to color a FACE!! The headless gardener!

I did a lot of paper piecing but it didn't take long and the result was so worth it. I love her mud boots. The flower box is made of cork which was on purpose for the MFT Wednesday stamp club challenge.

The ribbon is the seam binding (Hug Snug) that everyone is using. I don't have any glimmer mists yet but the texture is pretty even without the extra color.

Smell some flowers today! ~Rhonda

Supplies used:
stamps: MFT (Who's that Garden Girl)
paper: October Afternoon (Thrift Shop) Cosmo Cricket (Garden Variety)
ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black)
other: MFT (fresh cut grass die), Hobby Lobby (cork), Hug Snug seam binding, Copic Markers

Just because

Marvelous Monday everyone!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for another great week.  I spent all day Saturday cleaning and organizing the room that all the teenagers "live" in. It has also served as our school room over the years and since we are basically finished with homeschooling it was time for a major clean OUT! Lots of books to sell. Can't imagine what I'll spend the $$$ on!

I have a simple card based on the CAS sketch and the colors are based on Heather's Papertrey Peeps challenge. We would love to have you play along too!

Happy Stamping! ~Rhonda

Supplies used:
stamps: Papertrey Ink (Giga Guidelines, Big & Bold Wishes, Dot Spot)
paper: Papertrey Ink (stamper's select white, plum pudding bitty dot, simply chartreuse)
ink: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian shores) SU (Going Grey)
Other: Papertrey Ink (sunshine impression plate)

Friends Forever

During Papertrey Ink's June release, Nicole Heady made an adorable mini album. I translated the album into a card. I always enjoy using the designers ideas when I am getting to "know" a new stamp set.

On the forum there has been some discussion about slicing off the end of the ledger stamp because as you can see in the picture below, you get the weight of 2 lines. (I need to practice more on the lining up! :))

I also took a few pictures of my flowers this morning. It is already 80 degrees and expected to climb to 100!! I wish I could sent the fragrance of the phlox your way. It is heavenly.

Hope you are staying cool where you are! ~Rhonda

supplies used:
stamps: Papertrey Ink (library ledger, butterfly dreams, flutterby friends, bkgrd basics: text style II)
paper: Papertrey Ink (ocean tides, vintage cream, library ledger)

other: Papertrey Ink (butterfly die, dk choc button, twine)

Library Ledger

Well, I was on the fence during release time on the library ledger set until I saw Heather's project. I had been trying to figure out an easy way to keep track of birthdays and anniversaries. So . . . this set jumped into my cart!

The die is so easy to use and by the time I created 12 library "cards" I had a pretty good handle on lining it up. I think starting from the bottom gave me the best results. I also cut a clear card stock layer to protect the cover.

The Pure Innocence image "Happy Mail" seemed perfect paired with different sentiments.

Supplies used:
stamps: Papertrey Ink (Round & Round, Fillable Frames #2) Pure Innocence (Happy Mail)
paper: Papertrey Ink (Stamper's Select White, Clear Cardstock) October Afternoon (Thrift Shop)
ink: SU (Ruby Red, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry) Papertrey Ink (Enchanted Evening)
other: Papertrey Ink (library ledger card die) ring - stash

to be a Dad

I hope everyone is enjoying time with their Father/Families this weekend. I already posted a Father's Day card but last night Terri posted this great card and a link to this word art. I just had to make something. This would be a great card for a new DAD!

Can you guess my favorite design element of this?? The rope swing tail! LOVE. IT. The Pure Innocence images are fast becoming my favorites. I love the simple style that translates into one color stamping, coloring with Copics, or paper piecing.

Blessings to Each of you! ~Rhonda

Happy Father's Day

I'm kinda excited with my card today. I have been a little overwhelmed with several projects, but knew I had to get my Dad's card made and in the mail.  It came together very quickly which is a unusual for me.

Through the Trees has such a classy, timeless feel that is perfect for so many occasions. Fillable Frames #2 provided the needed sentiment and frame. Clean and simple!

One of the projects I was working on came to me at 11:30 pm after I was in bed. Do you do that??  I should have just got up and worked on it.  I have been taking photos for our VBS and decided I needed to make a picture folder so each family could have one of the group photos. I like the way to turned out.

Hope you enjoy time with the Dad's in your life this weekend. ~Rhonda

Color Couture! Color Couture! Color Couture!! Try saying that 3 times. Hope I'm not wearing you out with this but once you print these pretty papers you want to use them all.

The paper today is from the March Color Couture download. My printer does not always give an  accurate PTI matching color so Dawn McVey suggested that I pair it with another color. I thought it looked great with Enchanted Evening. Don't you agree??

The linen impression plate gives a great background texture especially when I used a Q-tip to color my butterflies.

I love the inside of the card as well. I think I'll make this again and it will be the front this time.

Ryker passed his driving test today so we have another driver in the family. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there! . . . to take my $$$ as we add another teenage boy to the policies!  Have a great day everyone. ~Rhonda

supplies used:
stamps: PTI - Inside & Out:Thank You, Butterfly Dreams

Celebrate your Day

Today is my BIRTHDAY!! Do you ever forget how old you are? I don't intend to but sometimes I just have to think about it and do the math.

When you are working on CAS cards, can I just say that impression plates pack a BIG punch! I hope you can see the "canvas" background on this card. It is wonderful.

The papers are from the March and April Color Couture line. The dot paper is from March and the cane print (diamonds) is from April.

I die cut 2 butterflies. Laying them creates depth and a more polished feel. I forgot to get a side view photo! Oops.

I hope you have a wonderful day!! I think I'll eat CAKE. ~Rhonda

Supplies used:
stamps: PTI - Butterfly Dreams, Signature Greetings
paper: PTI Stamper's Select White, Color Couture March - Dots and April - Cane print

Thank U

A start of another week! Can you believe we are already in the middle of June?? and for Papertrey Ink addicts its also release night. Whatcha getting?

I worked on creating CAS (clean and simple) cards this weekend. CAS can take a loooonnng time to make! LOL! I hope you like this one.

I used my Spellbinder square nesties to cut the cork. It took several times through my Big Shot to get the job done. It made a great frame to highlight PTI's Take Three:Summer bird stamp.

I stamped the bird in Hawaiian Shores pigment ink which really wasn't matching the paper very well. Can you see the 2 colors below?? Dark on the outside edge and more of a blue in the middle.

So. . . before I stamped the flower I worked the poor stamp pad OVER!!!
I smooshed, re-inked, smooshed, stuck my fingers in it. You get the picture. It is definitely better. You might even be able to see some hints of green in the flower now. Not perfect but I'm not above working that stamp pad OVER again.

Enjoy your day and maybe I'll see some of you later tonight! By the way, I want it ALL!! but think I'll take Dana's advice and think it through!

Papertrey Ink products unless noted

Soaring by to say Hi!

Has summer reached your part of the world? School out? The current Papertrey Peeps challenge is a project about travel or vacation. I thought this card would be appropriate. Where are you planning to soar to this summer? Vacation plans?

I love how the new linen impression plate looks on this pretty green paper. I has able to bend the sentiment from Everyday Button bits to fit the curve of the kite and string.

Scor-tape and glitter decorate the kite. Next time I would use a narrower tape.

If your summer plans are still "up in the air" I hope you at least get to fly a kite! ~Rhonda

. . . a wonderful beginning

Are you hearing wedding bells? starting to get those summer invites for showers? The Embellish Magazine Labels Color Challenge caught my eye! I needed a wedding shower card. The colors are a little un-traditional but give a casual feel to the card.

Using Spellbinders Labels One with Papertrey Inks Vintage labels allowed plenty of fun opportunities.I really like how the dark chocolate bitty dot paper frame turned out.

I think I'll try this card again with traditional colors. Imagining white and black!!!

The June issue of the on-line mag Scrap Street is now up. I have a wedding card that was published here. The first time for me!!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink - Vintage Labels, SU - Lifetime of Happiness (retired)
Paper: Papertrey Ink - Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart, Dark Chocolate
Inks: Memento - Rich Cocoa
Other: Spellbinders - labels one; PTI - lemon tart ribbon, impression plate

The Big "75"

This was the 1st time to break out Get to the Point! I borrowed heavily from Niki Estes card here. I really need to play around with the set cause I think the possibilities are BIG. My Dad turned 75 on Saturday. We met my parents for dinner at Joe T. Garcia's for some Mexican food.

This also meets the Papertrey Peeps challenge of using red/green on a non Christmas card.

Have a great day! ~Rhonda

MANY thanks

Clean and simple! The images in Take Three:Summer combined with the polka dot paper from Beautiful Blooms are perfect for an easy card.

Don't you love the cool graphic that is created by the "stems" in the middle?? LOVE it!!

I think next time I will only stamp the sentiment once to give a better focus. What do you think?? What would you do?

Supplies used:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink - Take Three:Summer
Ink: SU - Real Red; Memento - Tuxedo Black
Paper: Papertrey Ink - Select White,Beautiful Blooms
Other: Hobby Lobby - white ruffled ribbon

Birthday WISHES

I'm back with a card! I feel like I've been gone forever. So without further ado . . .
Challenge #12 at the Shabby Tea Room has been issued. Using a heart as the main focal point or spotlight of your design, create a card or project for the Tea Room challenge this week!  We're excited to see lots of hearts ... anything goes!

Well, I'm excited too!! I finished a card. I have started several cards this week but none have "felt right." Have you been following Christine Middlecamp's blog using the Martha Stewart die cut lace tags? I created one for this card. It definitely took me way to long cause I couldn't decide what to do!!! but I finally made one that I was happy with!

I stamped the background text II on the MS tag.

I love the pleated ribbon under the heart! I'll be doing this much more often. I also added another bow. Not so sure it adds anything. What do you think? KEEP or TAKE OFF??

Gotta show you a sweet picture from my trip to San Diego to visit my twin nephews. They are getting close to walking. My youngest son went with me. Ryker really enjoys the little guys.

Enjoy your weekend. I'll have a birthday card using Get to the Point to show Monday. My Dad celebrates his 75th birthday on Saturday. ~Rhonda
